Music Festival in Honor of Confucius

For over 35 years, the Chinese Fine Arts Society’s Music Festival in Honor of Confucius (MFHC) has invited young musicians to explore the rich heritage of Chinese music—celebrating both traditional and contemporary repertoire. Through performance, competition, and mentorship, the festival offers students an opportunity to deepen their skills while engaging with Chinese musical traditions in a focused and supportive setting.

MFHC brings together participants from across the Midwest to receive feedback from experienced educators, connect with peers, and grow as both musicians and cultural thinkers. Many alumni have continued their musical studies at highly regarded institutions, while others have carried forward a stronger connection to heritage, confidence in their artistic voice, and a lasting appreciation for Chinese music and culture.

While the festival will not take place in 2026, this year represents an important investment in the competition’s future. With the support of a major new grant, CFAS is making long-term improvements to the program—expanding access, strengthening infrastructure, and enhancing the overall experience for students, families, and teaching artists alike.

The festival will return with renewed energy and a continued commitment to youth development through Chinese music. More details will be shared in the months ahead. Thank you for being part of this community—we look forward to welcoming you back.
